Where we stand
Our websites, okienerd.com, kansasnerd.com, arkienerd.com, texnerd.com and nerddispatch.com, partially conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA: the pages we build meet Level AA, and the parts that may not are run by other companies, listed under known limitations below.
How we checked
We reviewed the sites on October 29, 2026. Every kind of page on the sites (home, booking, sign-up and membership, gift, account, free call, ZIP check and coverage map, city, town and job pages, help guides, the Local Nerd application, legal pages) was run through the axe-core automated checks for WCAG 2.1 A and AA in Chromium and WebKit, the engines behind Chrome, Edge and Safari, at phone, tablet and desktop sizes. We then checked by hand with a keyboard: the skip link, focus order and the visible focus ring, headings and landmarks, form labels, error messages and what a screen reader is told when a form is sent, the booking steps, the ZIP checker, the coverage map, color contrast, a 320-pixel-wide screen (the same as 400% zoom), and motion.
Moving pictures
The cartoon on our homepage and the town drawings on some city pages move. Each has a pause button, and if your device is set to reduce motion they hold still.
Known limitations
- Card details are typed into Stripe's secure card field, and the app download buttons open the App Store and Google Play. Those are run by Stripe, Apple and Google, and we can't vouch for them.
- On the coverage maps, the dots are for a mouse or a finger. Every city on a map is also a button in the list beside it, which works with a keyboard and a screen reader, and the ZIP box answers the same question.
- The Nerd on Call and Nerd HQ apps were not part of this review. We aim for WCAG 2.1 Level AA in them too.
