Local Nerd jobs in Stillwater & North-Central Oklahoma
Stillwater is open for house calls, and nobody lives here to make them. Twenty-eight towns are measured from downtown Stillwater, Perkins, Cushing, Perry, Glencoe, Ripley, Langston, Chandler, Drumright and Stroud among them, and every one of them books in person today on drives in from neighboring markets, from Ponca City and from the north side of Tulsa. A visit in Stillwater means somebody driving forty miles or more each way. If you live in Stillwater, Perkins or Cushing, this market is yours to make local.
In-person visits are open in this market, and one of its 28 towns, Perry, is still out of reach. It has no in-person option today and is served remotely, by phone and screen-share. A Local Nerd here who takes that drive turns it on.
Remote help by phone and screen-share already works at every address in this market, and it's part of the job wherever you live. A Local Nerd living here adds the half that can't be done over the phone. See what customers are told on the Stillwater page.
28 towns are measured from downtown Stillwater: 17 within 25 miles, 11 in the 25 to 50 mile band. They sit in Payne, Noble, Logan, Lincoln and Pawnee counties. Every market reaches 75 miles from its downtown in three travel bands, and the farther bands pay a higher hourly rate because the drive is longer. You choose which bands you take, and you can change it later.
17 towns, 16 driven today. Stillwater, Perkins, Glencoe, Ripley, Morrison, Langston, Tryon, Agra, Coyle, Orlando, Cushing, Mulhall, Yale, Carney, Pawnee, Maramec. Remote for now: Perry.
11 towns. Oilton, Jennings, Hallett, Chandler, Shamrock, Drumright, Davenport, Stroud, Sparks, Milfay, Paden.
Not sure which market your town belongs to? Apply for the city nearest you and tell us where you live. The markets overlap on purpose, and you tell us which queues you want bookings from.
Stillwater runs on the school year. Term time means laptops, printers that won't talk to campus Wi-Fi, and parents four hours away who want somebody local to go look at it. Then the town empties out for the summer and the work shifts to the year-round side: retirees in Perry and Perkins, farm offices, and the Cushing oil-storage crowd.
You keep the majority of every booking, and 100% of every tip. You see the split up front. Tips are paid out weekly with no commission taken.
You set your own availability. Open the times that suit you in Nerd HQ. A few evenings a week or full time, that part is your call.
Bookings come to you. When you're marked available, customers book your open time directly, with buffer time built in around each visit.
Nobody negotiates money at the door. Every booking takes a deposit up front and holds the card. The customer signs off on your phone at the end and the rest charges itself.
You're independent. Your own tools, any reliable and presentable vehicle, and free to work elsewhere whenever you like.
You have a team behind you. You get the Nerd HQ app, a direct line to HQ, a team that meets over video, and other Local Nerds to ask when something's strange.
Yes, from outside it. Local Nerds based in Ponca City and on the north side of Tulsa drive in, and between them every town in the market books in person today, Perry included. Nobody on the roster lives in Payne County, and this listing is how that changes.
We help students and their families at their own addresses, the same as anybody else. We're not a campus IT service and we don't work inside university systems. That means apartments, rent houses and parents paying for the visit from somewhere else.
Out to Cushing and Yale in the first band, and Drumright, Chandler, Stroud and Paden in the middle one. All of it books in person today. It's about forty-five minutes of driving from Stillwater to the far end of it, and the middle band pays more per hour for the trip.

Markets with nobody in them are listed first. If your town isn't the one on this page, it's almost certainly on one of these.
This page describes an independent contractor opportunity and is not an offer of employment. Local Nerds are independent contractors, not employees: you set your own availability, use your own tools and vehicle, and are free to work elsewhere. Compensation is a revenue share paid on completed bookings. Nothing on this page guarantees any level of income or booking volume, in this market or any other.
